Dear Parents:
Share Junior Achievement programs in your child's class! Junior Achievement is in need of volunteers to share JA programs in all classrooms at Prairie View during the 2014-2015 school year.

Volunteering involves visiting a classroom 5 times for 30-45 minutes each visit to share the lessons and activities with the students, typically once per week for 5 weeks. Teachers remain in the classrooms for collaboration and support. Training and materials are provided and you work out a schedule with the teacher that works for your schedule. Welcome Back to School! I am so glad that you are here to learn with us. We have some wonderful plans for our school year.

Our students are participating in a new technology initiative. All of our students have been provided iPads. These learning tools are equipped with our new reading series called, Reading Wonders. Teachers and students will choose learning apps for download throughout the year. We are excited to use technology in our classrooms!

We have other new initiatives too. Welcome – Girls On The Run (GOTR)! Fifteen young ladies in grades 3,4 and 5 are participating in GOTR this fall. The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. GOTR builds confident, proud young ladies. The GOTR season culminates in a 5K race in November. Many thanks to our coaches and parents for supporting GOTR at Prairie View.

Welcome Back– LEGO Robotics! We are happy to have LEGO League at Prairie View. Students and coaches work on solving a problem, making presentations, and programming their robot to compete with other elementary schools in our area.

We are very fortunate to have Junior Achievement at Prairie View this year. Thank you to our PTO for their generous support of this program. Students in grades K-5 will participate in JA lessons and activities with local area volunteers. We love having the community work with our school!

WOW – iPads, GOTR, LEGO League, and Junior Achievement! There is something for everyone at Prairie View. Please come visit and watch us “Soar To New Heights”!
