Flex Days Coming to NPUSC Schools

Beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, New Prairie United School Corporation will implement a virtual “eLearning” initiative for all students throughout the district. The goal of the initiative is to provide students with instruction that enhances the skills needed to succeed in a technological world. Students will have an opportunity to engage on both of these Flex Days via electronically planned instruction using the school’s iPad devices.  All NPUSC students will take part in two scheduled Flex Days on Friday, September 16th and Friday, September 23rd from 9:00am-3:00pm. On these dates, students do not have to report to school for instruction, however Prairie View Elementary will be open for those students who do not have WIFI access or need instructional assistance. Prairie View Elementary will be open on both Friday, September 16th and Friday, September 23rd. There will be staff to assist all the students no matter their grade level (K-12th) or any special accommodations they may have.  More information is being sent home regarding Flex Days.

Prairie View teachers are working with their students to prepare them for the upcoming Flex Days and eLearning opportunities. Specific information about your child’s classroom can be found on the teachers’ websites and weekly classroom newsletters. Our school will practice for the Flex Days on September 9th from 2:00 to 3:00. Be sure to talk to your student about this practice event to find out what activities he/she worked on during this time. We are all very excited about this new opportunity to continue learning when school is not in session.

Should you have additional questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.

Announcing 5th grade Basketball!!

We at New Prairie United School Corporation are proud to announce that we will be having boys basketball this fall.   Practices for boys basketball will be starting the week of October 17th

We are planning on having games begin the week of November 7th, 2016.  The regular season will go until December 9th, with the tournament being played the week of December 12th.  The tournament final will be played on December 17th, at the High School Gym.  Information packets will go home the week prior to practice.

Most games will be played at one of the three elementary schools, so busing will not be provided when the games are played at those locations.  In the event that we play a game at another school outside of New Prairie United School Corporation, then busing will be provided.

We are still actively searching for coaches, if you are interested please go to the New Prairie United School Corporation website and apply using the applitrack system.  This is a paid position, anyone with questions about the stipend please email Dr. White directly.

Welcome to Prairie View Elementary!

Welcome to Prairie View! I am so glad that you are here to learn with us.

Did you know that all of our students use iPads daily in their learning environment? Technology is integrated into all subject areas including the arts and physical education. iPads are one way that we differentiate instruction and meet the needs of all learners in our school.

Our students are engaged in learning academics AND growing socially. Scholars at Prairie View can participate in Recycling Club, Student Council, Math Bowl Team, Spell Bowl Team, Choir and a variety of sports and physical groups.

We LOVE Bobcat Club! Our after school program includes time for snack, homework help, iPad time, physical activity, and clubs like: Young Astronauts, Lego Architecture, Lego Robotics, Biomedical, IU Health, Technology Club, 4-H Club, Girls On The Run, and time to visit the Mobile Library.

Speaking of LEGO Robotics… LEGO League at Prairie View includes students and coaches working on solving a problem, making presentations, and programming their robot to compete with other elementary schools in our area. We are happy to announce that all three of our Lego Robotics Teams received awards at the First Annual District Lego Robotics Competition.

Our Community Volunteers help us learn and grow. We are very fortunate to have Junior Achievement at Prairie View. Students in grades K-5 participate in JA lessons and activities with local area volunteers. We are proud to have the community work with our school! Our PTO provides financial support and a bridge between home and school. Monthly activities for families provide fun and fellowship. We hope you will join us! In addition, many volunteers call Prairie View home. They support our students academically by tutoring and mentoring (before, during and after school).

WOW – There is something for everyone at Prairie View. Please come visit and learn more about why “Bobcats Are Out of This World”!
